Neil deGrasse Tyson Unconcerned Tweet After Mass Shootings

After two mass shootings in the U.S over the weekend, Neil deGrasse Tyson made an observation, and Twitter is reacting.

In the wake of two horrific shootings, the 60-year-old American astrophysicist posted a post with death information on Sunday (August 4).

Tyson says “In the past 48hrs, the USA horrifically lost 34 people to mass shootings. On average, across any 48hrs, we also lose…500 to Medical errors, 300 to the Flu, 250 to Suicide, 200 to Car Accidents, 40 to Homicide via Handgun. Often our emotions respond more to spectacle than to data,”.

Over 27,000 responses have been given on Twitter by the tweet.

“We are working to avoid medical mistakes. We’re working to avoid the flu. We work to prevent murder. We work to prevent car crashes.

We’re doing everything about mass shootings. Spot the difference, Neil,” one common response says.
